In this modern age anxiety is one of the most common reasons for seeking counselling.
We all experience stressful situation at times which provoke feelings of panic, anxiety, distress and fear. These feelings are completely natural but when they occur, they can produce unpleasant side-effects such as sweating, tension, and avoidant behaviours.
If unattended, these symptoms can cause difficulties in your relationships, at work, and in your mood on a daily basis. Should this happen to you regularly, you can experience feelings of being powerless and in no control.
Our promise to you is that our therapists will help you explore the possible causes and triggers of your anxiety (including anxiety related to employment, relationships and or traumas) and work with you to learn and develop effective coping strategies.
Our consultants will help you build a personalised plan based on a more health-focused change and learn techniques that will help you manage stressful situations in the future. They will help you to keep on track with your goals, providing ongoing emotional support, and identifying any potential barriers to self-improvement.
Treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy are often what our consultants use as tools to tailor the treatment to your needs. They may also combine several techniques that suit your circumstances more appropriately. In some cases therapy may not be enough and medication will be suggested as part of the treatment process (subject to the recommendations of your GP or psychiatrist, which we can arrange for you at our premises).
Our therapists can tackle anxiety over its different types that would generally include excessive, uncontrollable and non-specific worries, as well as panic disorder, OCD, phobias and post-traumatic stress (PTSD).
