You are welcome here.

Here at the Wholefulness Practice we provide an expert team of psychologists in the heart of London, near Liverpool Street station.
The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components of therapy and we want to ensure that through this journey of self-discovery you feel comfortable, free to be yourself, truly heard and supported. You can relax and feel assured that we’ve selected our psychologists with your best interests at heart; so all that’s left for you to do is to take the next step forward towards the life you’d like to create!
Once you decide to get in touch with me, the first step will be for us to decide a day and time to meet. We will then sit our initial appointment in a room in the practice for 50 minutes, where you will be able to experience a taste of our therapy strategies with me.
During this session, you will be able to ask questions, express your feelings and assess how comfortable you feel in my presence overall. There is absolutely no obligation to meet again after this. Therapy will always be guided by you and your need for it: you will let me know when you would like to begin and when you feel ready to end. You are the director of your journey to feel better.
With a practice in Liverpool Street and one in North London, I will commit myself to you, if you will commit to yourself and to your wellbeing.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you wish to book an appointment. We very much look forward to connecting with you.

Dr. Mary-Anne Smyth

Chartered Counselling Psychologist, PsychD, BSc, BPS Accredited, HPC registered.

The word of our head Psychologist

I completed my Doctorate in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology at the University of Surrey and I’ve been trained in various models of therapy including: Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. A benefit of being trained in various therapeutic models is that I am able to tailor a unique therapy for every individual. Having an array of therapeutic tools to choose from means that through collaboration, a client and I are able to create something very unique together, picking and choosing the aspects that fit the situation best.

My experience includes working within the NHS, Universities, charities and private practice. In addition to this, I have also been a part of specialist services providing support for those suffering with addictions and chronic pain. The types of issues I’ve worked with therapeutically are varied and include but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, relational issues, psychological disorders, as well as those seeking insight and personal development. I provide therapy for individuals and couples both on a short-term and long-term basis. In addition to this, I lecture in psychology to Undergraduates and Doctoral students.

My way of working

My way of working therapeutically values the uniqueness of every individual and aims to provide a non-judgmental and safe space where clients can feel free to express themselves. This therapeutic space can take many forms. For example, if words feel difficult or insufficient, creative work can be utilized, such as drawing, using role-play or even imagery exercises. Whatever form therapy takes, it’s always tailored through collaboration with the individual and based on their personal needs at the time.

The way I work with clients aims to promote a supportive environment and above all else, what I can offer and what I can promise you is that I will be human, just like you.
